The Pinal County Jail and Prison System - What are they Thinking?????

Our Christmas Vacation

We decide to rove around AZ in a number of day trips.  Where could we go within two hours of home?

Friday, our last day of traveling, we had to take Ruby for her annual shots so she came with.

Here is Jim walking her in Goldfield,  in the shadows of the Superstition Mountains..

Here I am with her, in Fish Creek Hill,  part of the Salt River system.
We had been up in Show Low and Pinetop-Lakeside the day before where it was cold and
I thought I didn't need hat and scarf since we weren't up as high.

WRONG.

And, this is not a Universal Studios type picture where you can stand in front of a photo projection.
I was really freezing my patootie off in front of some kick-ass scenery.
The dog was just having fun. The cold doesn't bother her. Unless of course she is at home,
where, if it is lower than 50, she would prefer to sleep in the living room, thank you.

Ruby is a Red Dog in a Red Land.

We live in Tonto National Forest.   People ask us about forest fires, but we don't live in the middle of your typical forest.
We have Saugaros here, not regular trees.

Here is a picture we took at the Tonto National Monument, looking up at the lower cliff dwelling.
Here you see what kind of forest surrounds us in all directions.

Please ignore the two Saguaros in the lower right doing what I really shouldn't mention in their embrace......

Here is view of the upper cliff house, from the road at a viewpoint.

My brother and I visited Mesa Verde in Colorado, we got some spectacular pix.
Check them out.  Click here.

We also went to Salt River Canyon, often called a miniature Grand Canyon.

We love the cacti.

We had a bunch of fun, dog and I, here we are again on the road out towards Roosevelt Lake.
Ruby loved being places where she could be off the leash and just run.
She is such a good dog, she checked in with me every few minutes just to make sure she was still ok, and then would go run.

Roosevelt Dam and buildings, look like models from the overlook.
