Results from the weekend's racing
We went downtown to the Soap Box Derby Races today and really enjoyed ourselves,
except for nearly freezing to bits!
This is serious business, and it is really impressive to see how these kids feel about the competition.
I don't think any other non-adult sport fosters sportsmanship like this one.
Or, maybe this sport has more sportsmanlike parents than other sports I have witnessed.
It was windy and cold, and even snowed for a few minutes. These kids had a great time, though.

Our Superior Racer here is Mike Bridges, 2006 Soap Box Derby World Champ!
Don't they look fast!

The turnout was smaller than expected.
Races in Superior are considered some of the biggest west of the Mississippi,
but many racers who normally attend our races come from New Mexico.
The fear of massive snow storms kept them at home this time.
The race cars were cool.
Some were simple and very old.
Some were pretty much state of the art.

Racers ranged from very young beginners, to 17 year olds.

Altin Hing works his backside off on Saturday, loading race cars to be shuttled up the hill.

Where can you race in a more gorgeous setting?
Recognition to:
Altin Hing - lifted cars on Saturday, raced on Sunday
Raudel Castro Jr. - raced on Sunday
Rider Brothers - raced on Sunday
Alvin Noline - raced on Sunday
Kyle Thompson - raced on Sunday
Jess Boggs -- who helped lift cars both days!
And Pete Casillas from Resolution Copper, who always seems to be around to help when needed!
