See Before and Now Pictures
The interior was a little worse for the wear after all those years.

They had dropped the ceiling a foot to hide the water leaks, and hung those drop ceiling components. But the drop ceiling had buckled and warped, too.

There were five layers of linoleum laid on top of the old wooden floor.

We tore up all the floorboards, and sanded them down. The floor had to come up because piers and floor joists all had to be removed. The workers that we hired to replace them, only pretended to pour new piers. The builder charged our account at the lumber yard for 35 bags of concrete, but somehow, floor supports were on the dirt under the house.
Jim relaid piers, redid the joists, and then insulated under the floor with styrofoam and cellulose insulation.
This is a view from the kitchen area, you can now see the wall between the living room and kitchen is gone.
Jim also laid all the floor boards by hand.
Lots of dust and work and aggravation. Still need to seal and polish the floor, but we are so sick of dealing with a construction zone, we thought we'd live it up a while first.

Complete with sleeping dog.

A little better than the top of the page, eh?
